I have for you a tale of woe. And a spoiler if your name is my mom.
Once upon a time not so long ago, my parents moved. And in that move, a box went missing. And in that box was a Candyland game my mom had played for many years. In my research, it was the 1962 edition, for reference.
We were able to find a new board for it though! Huzzah! And my mom was pretty sure she still had the cards and pieces! So all was well.
Except a twist to our tale- the cards and pieces, thought to be in one of the boxes that arrived, turned out to also be lost! Alas! But then I thought, hey, Candyland pictures aren’t all that complicated, right? I bet I could draw some of those…
So I did some research, got some reference photos, and went to town. The squares were easy and the other cards were just fun. I’m pretty pleased with how they’re coming along.
So hello Mom, get ready for a new pack of cards coming your way. I suppose I could make copies of the originals since, well, I found them online and that might actually be simpler… but I’m having fun with this.
In other news, I’m discovering new limits to my WordPress knowledge that should probably be remedied as and when this site goes on to be more than just a blog and actually a landing page for my writing endeavors. I’ll get to it soon (add it to the backlog!) but for now, I’ll bring new writing prompt meanderings at you again next week.
I’d offer to share more of the files but I’m honestly unsure of the legality thereof; lemme check with a lawyer and I’ll get back to you on that. (Add that to the back of the backlog 😉 ) (Or message me and we’ll see what can be done.)
